The man was identified as Abhishek Samant, 19, who led the police to his two accomplices Kanna Swami Durai alias Mota Kannu, 29, and Kannan Chinnaswamy alias Chota Kannu.

The MIDC police on Thursday arrested the three men, who had a contract to kill Ramji Ahir, who is related to Murji Patel, over a political rivalry. According to the police, Ramji was travelling from Hotel Regent in Andheri (East) towards his house a week ago when he noticed a couple of two-wheelers following him. There were two men on a scooter and one on a motorcycle who intercepted Ahir’s vehicle and stabbed him three times before fleeing. Assistant inspector Gangadhar Muddam said it was difficult to find eyewitness as the incident took place at a blind spot at 11pm. The MIDC police requested the traffic police for CCTV footage.

“We could not see the attackers’ faces but noticed a logo of a food delivering company on the T-shirt of one man,” said Muddam. The police then landed at the headquarters of the company and arrested Samant. They are yet to find the person who asked the three men to bump off Ahir.
