Thursday rain: Transport services slowed down in Mumbai

Less than 50mm pre-monsoon showers made commuting a nightmare.

Less than 50mm pre-monsoon rain in the city and suburbs made commuters’ journeys difficult on Thursday as train services slowed down due to water-logging and technical snags, buses got diverted and auto-taxi drivers refused to ferry commuters.

Suburban services on the central railway (CR) were slowed down due to the flooding on the tracks at Sion station, which is a low-lying area. Kalwa also experienced a technical snag.

Public buses were also hit, with many being forced to divert at some locations. At some places they were stuck in traffic snarls. The city commuters also complained about fare refusals by auto rickshaw and taxis drivers during rains.
