Two private buses collide on Thane’s Ghodbunder Road, 35 passengers escape unhurt
Officials suspect the accident took place because of speeding; one of the drivers injured
Thirty-five passengers travelling in a private bus had a narrow escape on Tuesday morning, when their bus crashed into another bus on Ghodbunder Road in Thane.

Both buses were heading in the same direction on Ghodbunder Road when the bus carrying 35 passengers crashed into the bus ahead of it, which fortunately had no passengers. “The accident took place around 8.30 am, between a passenger bus that was heading towards Borivli from Thane and an empty bus going to Kashimira, Mira Road,” said an official from Kasarvadavli police station in Thane. “The Regional Disaster Management Cell team arrived at the spot soon with one fire engine, one rescue vehicle and one ambulance.”
Officials suspect the accident took place because the bus with passengers was speeding. Driver Bhiku Das, 23, whose bus crashed into the one ahead of it, suffered injuries on his leg, and has been admitted to Kevalya hospital in Thane. “His condition is stable,” the official added.
Both buses were damaged in the accident.
