Western railway renames Elphinstone Road station Prabhadevi
Mumbai city news: Prabhadevi is a local deity, whose temple is located in the vicinity of the railway station.
After the central railway changed the name of Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, the western railway (WR) authorities have renamed Elphinstone Road station as Prabhadevi.

Prabhadevi is a local deity, whose temple is located in the vicinity of the railway station.
With the name change, the WR revised Elphinstone Road’s station code to PBHD and numeric code to 08127027.

Recently, the commercial department of the WR issued an order to change the name of the station and asked all the authorities concerned to make necessary changes in alphabetical order of the station’s names.
The demand was made by the Shiv Sena.
In the beginning of last month, the Central government gave its nod to the recommendations, which were unanimously passed through a resolution by the Maharashtra Assembly during its winter session in December.
