MUMBAI: In a city teeming with vehicles, a bullock cart accident is rare.

In Mankhurd, two bullocks and a cart driver were injured on the busy Sion-Panvel highway early on Tuesday, when a taxi crashed into a bullock cart.
According to the police, the accident took place around 4am on the carriageway towards Panvel. “The car was attached to a radio taxi service provider,” said a police officer involved in the probe.
“The driver of the car lost control and crashed into the bullock cart from behind. The owner, Shridhar Katkar, 58, was injured. One of the bullocks died from its injuries,” said the officer. While Katkar was rushed to Rajawadi hospital in Ghatkopar, the two bullocks have been admitted to a veterinary hospital.
“The driver fled the spot. We are trying to trace him, and are probing the matter,” the officer said.
