NAVI MUMBAI: The father of the 16-year-old Dalit boy, who was killed by a mob for being in a relationship with an upper caste girl in Nerul, demanded death sentences for all accused involved in the crime.

So far, the police have arrested seven people, including four members of the girl’s family – her father, mother and two brothers. The girl, too, has been sent to a remand home after she was produced before the juvenile court. The victim’s family had mentioned her name in the FIR.
The boy’s father said, “My son was killed even though there was no mistake on his part. Loving someone cannot be a crime. The accused had planned the murder properly and then executed it after taking us to their residence. The state government should pay attention to this and the case should be fast-tracked. All the accused should be hanged.”
The family also demanded that the two sub-inspectors who have been suspended for their professional lapses, should be booked under the atrocities act.
“If the police had given us protection only for two hours, my son would have been alive today. A few days ago, my son told us that he had seen some policemen taking money from the family of the accused,” Sonawne said.
The boy’s mother has been admitted to a hospital following some complications she had developed after the incident.
