On Saturday, the court ordered Kashyap’s release on cash bond of Rs15,000 and also imposed several conditions on him. The team of lawyer who came to court said that the conditions include that he will have to cooperate in the investigation and attend the police station when called. The court has also warned him to not tamper with any evidence or influence any witnesses.
Kashyap — who the police claimed filed a false complaint that he was harassed and threatened by cow vigilantes for carrying a cowhide bag in August — had on Saturday moved a bail plea after he was remanded in judicial custody. His lawyer Vijay Hiremath had contended that Kashyap has been falsely implicated. “If the allegations are true, there should have been an incident reflecting the animosity or fight between two groups. There has not been a single incident,” Hiremath had argued.
