The event was planned for October 19, to show solidarity between Dalit and Marathas in the backdrop of protests carried out by both the communities for their demands. But the event was postponed following riots in Nashik after a teenager allegedly attempted to rape a minor, an RPI leader said.

The rally was postponed after some senior BJP leaders spoke with Athawale.
