The corporator, Santosh Dhuri, told the police he called the helpline number on Thursday of the developer group.
“A woman executive, who took the call, asked me if I was a vegetarian or a non-vegetarian, as a Jain temple was being built in the society as most residents were Gujarati and Jains,” said Dhuri, who submitted the recorded conversation to Dadar police station.
“A resolution was passed last year in which it was decided that occupation certificate to such a project should be denied,” said Dhuri.
Dhuri is seeking a flat in Goregaon, where his in-laws live. During the conversation, the executive gave him the details of the project in Goregaon, but clarified it was only for vegetarians, Dhuri told the police. She allegedly asked him to visit the project and talk to her senior and management.
“This is creating a rift in society. An investigation should be carried out and appropriate action should be taken,” read the application submitted by Dhuri to Dadar police station.
A police officer said, “We have received the application and appropriate action will be taken.”
The group was unreachable on the phone on Sunday.
