Three arrested for extorting money from 39­year-­old doc

MUMBAI: The Shivaji Nagar police arrested three people from an NGO for allegedly extorting money from a doctor.

MUMBAI: The Shivaji Nagar police arrested three people from an NGO for allegedly extorting money from a doctor.

According to the police, a complaint was filed by Akhtar Javed Jalauddin, 39, who runs a clinic at Bainganwadi area. He also practises as a medical officer at a nearby nursing home.

“Salim Khan who runs an NGO got acquainted with the doctor . Another woman, Shehnazbi, also worked for the NGO and knew Akhtar,” officials said.

On September 6, Shehnazbi walked into Akhtar’s clinic and accused him of misbehaving with her minor daughter. Later that night, Salim along with two women and two men also threatened the doctor .

“The accused went to the Akhtar’s Mumbra home and took possession of the clinic’s documents. Salim then told Akhtar that his clinic has been sold and demanded Rs 10 lakh if he wanted the clinic back. Akhtar agreed to pay Rs 5 lakh,” officials said.
