100% water cut in parts of Mumbai on Wednesday

Most parts of the island city will face 100% water cut on Wednesday, as the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is carrying out pipeline repair works.

Most parts of the island city will face 100% water cut on Wednesday, as the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is carrying out pipeline repair works.

The civic body has proposed to carry out a 21- hour long work of cross connection and fixing of two valves under the water supply tunnel project at Mahalaxmi Racecourse.

The work will start around 7am on June 5 (Wednesday) and go on up to 4am on June 6, says a notice issued by the BMC reads.

However, this means that residents will have to stock up their water a day in advance.

The areas that will be affected the most during the work include the entire G South ward, G North ( excluding Dharavi) ward, Kasturaba Hospital, Nair Hospital, Durga Devi tank, MP Mill Compound BDD Chawl, Worli BDD Chawl Sir Pochkhanwala Road, Worl Koliwada, Worli Dairy and Tardeo, Tulsi Wadi, Nana Chowk in D ward.

"Citizens residing at these localities are requested to store sufficient amount of water a day before," reads the BMC’s notice.
