13-yr-old dies of swine flu in Navi Mumbai

A 13-year-old girl from Navi Mumbai died of swine flu at MGM hospital in Belapur on July 3. The girl had been unwell for almost a month and was admitted to the hospital 10 days ago.

A 13-year-old girl from Navi Mumbai died of swine flu at MGM hospital in Belapur on July 3. The girl had been unwell for almost a month and was admitted to the hospital 10 days ago.

The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) has confirmed that the cause of death was swine flu. The civic corporation has said there is no need to panic as adequate precautions are being taken.

Dr Meena Dev, assistant medical officer, health, NMMC, said: “This is the first case of swine flu death this year. The residents should not panic. We have made arrangements to deal with swine flu and other such diseases at the NMMC hospital in Vashi.

“We have started a special ward in the hospital with facilities to deal with any emergency,” she added.
