A 19-year-old was arrested from his Mahim residence on Thursday afternoon for allegedly stabbing his friend with a knife over an argument.

Mashid Shaikh, 25, a tailor, is recuperating at Bhabha hospital in Kurla and is stable.

On Wednesday night, Omar Shaikh, Mashid and a common friend, who is yet to be identified, met at a country bar.

Around 9.30pm, when they were returning home an argument broke out between Mashid and Omar and the third friend. “Omar pulled out a knife and the duo stabbed Mashid six times on his stomach and hands near Mahim beach and fled,” said police inspector V Kulkarni.

Mashid has sustained injuries on his kidney, but his condition is stable, doctors said.

The police arrested Omar from his house at Senapati Bapat Marg and recovered the knife. They are looking for the second accused in the case.
