The deceased, Hitesh Naik (28) and Sachin Kadam (25), were residents of Kandivli (West) and Goregaon (East).

Both worked for a courier company, Aramex, and were heading towards Borivli from Andheri. Kadam was riding his Bajaj Platina while Naik was sitting pillion. Alongside the motorcycle was a Honda Activa with two men, Omkar Salunkhe (20) and Monil Gajera (25) seated. A truck was ahead of the two motorcycles.

"Seeing a traffic constable the truck driver, without giving any indication, changed the lane. The motorcycle lost control and hit the truck," said Senior Police Inspector Ravindra Bhosale of Jogeshwari police station.

While Kadam died on the spot, Naik died while undergoing treatment at Cooper Hospital. Salunkhe and Gajera were rushed to Kulkarni Hospital in Jogeshwari and are admitted to the intensive care unit, said the police.

Salunkhe, a college student, is a Borivli resident, whereas Gajera resides in Dahisar.

The police are yet to take Gajera's statement. The truck driver, Maruti Mahadik (50), a resident of Kurar village in Malad (East), was arrested on charges of causing death due to rash and negligent driving.
