Around 11.15am, Vikas Kukreja, an engineering student, had reportedly come to check his new 4 BHK flat in A wing of Kshitij building in sector 19 as the interior work was in progress.

Kukreja, who studied at a college in Airoli, was a resident of Sagar Darshan society tower in sector 18 of Nerul on Palm Beach road. His father reportedly owns a quarry.

A driver, who was present at the building at the time, said, “We were at the main gate when we heard a thud. We rushed to the spot and found the body lying on the first floor terrace.”

“The body was badly damaged. The impact was so hard that even the terrace tiles were broken,” he added.

"Prima facie it seems to be an accident. A worker present in the flat told us Kukreja gave him some suggestion on the work and went into another room speaking on his mobile phone. Due to some mobile signal problem, he may have gone to the terrace. The phone has not been found," said senior inspector Prakash More from Turbhe police station.

“The family is in a state of shock. Once the final rites are completed, we will talk to his parents if he had any issues in college or any affair," he added.
