The officials said Shailendra Jaiswal, a Malad resident, was striking a deal with a prostitute when two persons came and asked him to leave and thrashed him when he resisted. However, Jaiswal said: “I was waiting for my brother. The man claimed they were policemen, took me to a room and demanded Rs. 5000.”

Shivajirao Bagal, senior inspector, Borivli (GRP) said: “Jaiswal claimed he was beaten up by three people. He did not say they were policemen or demanded money. We have registered a case of assault against unknown accused.”
