The Navi Mumbai police have also managed to crack the builders, SK Brothers’, theft case and arrested two persons in connection with the crime.

The SK Brothers had registered a first information report that goods worth Rs 18 lakh were stolen. “Of that, we have recovered electronics worth Rs 8 lakh,”said Navi Mumbai commissioner of police Ahmad Javed.

The police are however trying to trace more people who are involved in house break-in cases in the area.

“We had leads into the SK Brothers’ case. We asked the experts to check the footage from the closed-circuit television camera installed in the premises. On receiving a tip-off that stolen goods would be sold in Koparkhairane on December 5, we laid a trap and arrested two people,” Javed added.

Of the two arrested, Sanjit Thikadar, 30, who is a carpenter by profession, resides in Koparkhairane while Naem Ansari, 29, a baker, resides in Mumbra, the police said.

“They have confessed to the crime,” Javeda added.

Both the accused are from West Bengal and had come to Mumbai few months ago, the police said.

They have been remanded to police custody until December 13.

Among the other cases solved by the police, one was registered at the Vashi police station while the other was registered with the Rabale police.
