According to the JJ Marg police, Fakir Mohammed Aslam (52) along with his two accomplices attacked Ahmed Owais Ansari with a chopper when he left the Bhendi Bazaar mosque after Friday’s namaz.

The reason of dispute is the ownership of a room at Handia Street in Nagpada where the victim resides, the police said.

The locals informed the police and rushed Ansari to the JJ Hospital.

“We have booked the accused on the charges of attempt to murder and are trying to trace him and his two accomplices,” said Senior Police Inspector S Bagwe, from the JJ Marg police station.

“Ansari is recuperating. We are in the process of recording his statement and finding out more details about the dispute, the decision of which has been pending in a small causes court,” added Bagwe.

This is not the first time that Aslam attacked Ansari for the property. On April 12, Aslam had barged into Ansari’s house and stabbed him along with his sisters and brother in laws.

“Aslam had fled the spot and was wanted in that case,” an police officer said, requesting anonymity.

“Aslam, a history sheeter is wanted in several theft cases as well,” he added.
