The two accused, identified as only Sunny and Tony, both in their mid-20s and residents of Chembur, had come to Gautam Nagar, where their relative lives, for Ganesh Visarjan a few days ago, said the police.

The accused, allegedly under the influence of alcohol, went to the Ganesh pandal where they got into an argument with the mandal president Pravin Solanki (36) on Thursday.

On Sunday, they allegedly came back with 10-12 people in a vehicle and attacked Pravin and his brother Tushar (27). Other members of the mandal intervened and people from the both sides got into an altercation.

Four people — Pravin, Tushar, Sushant Torne and Pravin Thorat were injured and taken to KEM Hospital. A chopper and iron rods were recovered from the accused. Senior inspector Vikram Patil said the two have been booked on charges of assault, causing grievous hurt and rioting.

“We are examining the complaint filed against the injured,” he added. The duo is still at large.
