The Goregaon (East) police said, a resident informed them.

“A police team was sent to the spot. The foetus was taken to the Bhagwati hospital where it was declared dead before admission,” said senior inspector Anil Bhise.

Residents claimed that the foetus was alive when it was discovered. “Around 3.30 pm, when I was passing by, I spotted it at the Pandurangwadi road near the Squatters colony along the railway crossing,” Salim Zaveri, a resident of the Squatters colony told Hindustan Times.

“There were no clothes over the foetus and he was alive in the scorching heat. I could not pick it since it was too delicate. I informed the Dindoshi and Goregaon (East) police instead,” said Zaveri adding that the police patrolling vans came after being informed.
