Divyesh Limkar, a kindergarten student, was seated on a two-wheeler while his father went to buy chocolates from a nearby store.

According to the Dahisar police, the incident took place around 12.30 pm when Pintu Limkar, Divyesh’s father, was taking him to visit a relative. Pintu halted the bike near the Gopal Krishna hotel, located a little distance from their residence, to get chocolates for Divyesh.

He parked the bike and instructed Divyesh to wait on the bike as he headed towards a nearby shop.

A truck driver who was reversing the vehicle, did not see the stationary bike and rammed the rear end of the truck into the two-wheeler on which the child was sitting. Divyesh sustained injuries to his head and was rushed to the Bhagwati hospital where he was declared dead, said police sub-inspector V Kadam from Dahisar police station.

The Dahisar police arrested the truck driver Subhash Chaudhary, 25, on charges of rash and negligent driving and causing death due to negligence.

Chaudhary was transporting food supplies to a warehouse in Dahisar, police said.
