4-year-old hit by train, dies

A four-year-old girl playing close to the railway tracks between Guru Teghbahadur Nagar and Chunabhatti station died after being hit by a running train on Thursday.

A four-year-old girl playing close to the railway tracks between Guru Teghbahadur Nagar and Chunabhatti station died after being hit by a running train on Thursday.

Anusari Devendra, the daughter of a civic contractor, was living at the Sanjay Gandhi Nagar in Chunabhatti.

Police suspect that she might have strayed onto the railway tracks without her parents noticing.

"As Anusari veered onto the tracks, a running train knocked her down. She was rushed to Sion hospital where she was declared dead," said an officer who requested anonymity.

Ansari sustained injuries to her forehead, which resulted in her death.
