Deputy Commissioner of Police Ankush Shinde said, “Eight men came to the company [Manappuram General Finance and Leasing Ltd] on the pretext of mortgaging gold. They were armed with choppers and pistols. They were escaping with gold.”

A neighbouring mobile shop owner, Sayed Khan, noticed the action and informed the police. The locals helped the police nab the accused. “We managed to get some of the gold looted by them,” added Shinde.
