On Friday, Thackeray issued a statement warning Hazare not to mess with him after the latter made remarks about Thackeray’s age. “Do not take the risk of making enemies of us,” Thackeray told Hazare through his press statement.

Hazare had attributed Thackeray’s remark at the Dussehra rally, that his anti-corruption drive was not good for the country, to his advancing years.

Thackeray responded saying, “I may be ageing but just because you are younger, such childish behaviour does not become you.”

He also blamed the media for ‘twisting facts’ and said that he had not criticised Hazare. “I had said Anna was sincere in his efforts but corruption would not end through such methods.”
