Sachin Pawar worked as a security guard at an ATM centre near Mittal Towers at Nariman Point. On Saturday, Hanisha Amesun (32), who works at Mittal Towers, withdrew money from the ATM, forgot her card at the machine.

“Pawar used the card to shop for goods worth Rs 17,000,” said Z.M. Gharal, senior police inspector. “He went to a restaurant and paid a bill of Rs 300 and filled fuel for Rs 1,100 in his bike with the debit card,” said Assistant Police Inspector Kishor Shinde.

It was only when she got an SMS from the bank about the purchase of a gold chain worth Rs 15,000, did Amesun realise that her card was missing.

Police saw the CCTV footage and after interrogating Pawar, he confessed to the crime.
