The crime branch had last November arrested Baig from Girgaum, after he was deported from Colombo for overstaying.

According to ATS, Samad was arrested from Mangalore on May 24 for allegedly supplying arms.

Union home minister P Chidambaram said Samad is the prime suspect in the German Bakery blast case. The ATS, however, did not mention about the blast case in the remand applications filed before the court and said they want to investigate him in the arms case. HTC
