BEST bus fares to increase from April 1

Travelling by BEST bus will cost more from April 1. You will have to pay at least Re.1 more for minimum travel on city buses and Rs.5 more for AC buses.Kailash Korde reports.

Travelling by BEST bus will cost more from April 1. You will have to pay at least Re.1 more for minimum travel on city buses and Rs.5 more for AC buses.

The minimum bus fare will now be Rs.6 instead of Rs.5 up to 2km, and for 3km it will be Rs.8 instead of Rs.7.

The increase will be applicable to all non-AC buses of the BEST, including the limited-stop buses. “However, the ordinary and limited bus fares will remain unchanged after 3km,” said a source.

The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Transport Authority (MMRTA) approved the hike in fares during a meeting presided over by transport secretary SK Sharma on Saturday.
