An angry mob Wednesday pelted stones and damaged four BEST buses after one of the buses ran over a 18-year-boy at suburban Govandi.

The victim, Bilal Khan, working as a labourer in a shoe manufacturing company was on his way to the Govandi railway station when a BEST bus knocked him down and ran over him killing him on the spot.

"The victim's head was crushed under the bus. This infuriated people nearby who started pelting stones at the bus and other BEST buses there," Deputy Commissioner of Police Dilip Sawant told PTI.

The bus driver has been taken into custody and would be booked for rash and negligent driving, he added.

"Police was rushed to the spot and the situation has been brought under control," Sawant said.
