The undertaking has identified over 15 sites for these pandals including Girgaum Chowpatty, Badhwar Park, Haji Bunder, Dadar Chowpatty, mayor’s bungalow at Shivaji Park, Gateway of India, Mahim Reti Bunder and Sion Chunabhatti.

“We are not wasting money. These pandals will be required for our staff on the days of immersion. Local politicians and dignitaries can also use them,” said a senior BEST official.

“This year BEST faced a loss of around Rs200 crore. These pandals and search lights, however, are kept at selected locations on day of immersion,” said Sunil Ganacharya, BEST committee member.
