BMC: road work is being monitored

A day after the elected representatives in the civic general body blamed the administration and contractors for the bad quality of roads, the civic administration defended saying that the work is being closely monitored, reports HT Correspondent.

A day after the elected representatives in the civic general body blamed the administration and contractors for the bad quality of roads, the civic administration defended saying that the work is being closely monitored.

The administration said the quality of work is being given priority. The corporators had blamed the inferior quality of paver blocks for the cavities on roads and footpaths. They have demanded a independent third- party audit to check the use of inferior quality paver blocks.

“The construction of roads is being carried out by a central agency and it is being audited since 2006. The civic body has also appointed quality auditors since September 2009 ,” said a press release by the civic body.
