During the monthly review meeting on Saturday, municipal commissioner Ajoy Mehta ordered to all ward officers to find a way to minimise flooding in the city and conduct surprise visits in their respective wards.

The deployed civic staff will ensure immediate dewatering of flooded areas. There are, according to officials, 66 chronic flooding spots such as Hindmata, Road Number 24 at Sion, Milan Subway, Khar Subway among others. In total, the BMC has identified 270 flooding spots across the city.

The civic body has made arrangement for 292 de-watering pumps for 270 spots across the city. Along with this, two pumps with enough fuel to run them will be kept in each ward for back-up.

“The commissioner has asked officers to review all the existing arrangements at ward level to reduce flooding on the streets,” said a senior civic official, who attended the meeting.
