CBI appeals against bail to Padamsinh Patil

Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed an application in the Bombay High Court, seeking cancellation of bail granted to NCP leader Padam Sinh Patil.

Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed an application in the Bombay High Court, seeking cancellation of bail granted to NCP leader Padam Sinh Patil.

The sessions court in Alibag granted bail to Patil on September 25. Patil, an MP from Osmanabad, has been chargesheeted for the murder of Congress leader Pawanraje Nimbalkar.

Justice A P Deshpande today posted agency's appeal against bail for hearing on October 14.

Patil was arrested on June 6 this year, for hiring contract killers to murder Nimbalkar, who was shot dead on Pune-Mumbai expressway in 2006.

Nimbalkar and his driver were shot dead on June 3, 2006 at Kalamboli in Navi Mumbai.

The CBI in its 5,000-page chargesheet has named Patil as the prime accused, who hatched the conspiracy to murder Nimbalkar on account of political and business rivalry.

The other accused in the case who have been arrested are Dinesh Tiwari, Mohan Shukla, Parasmal Jain, Satish Mandade, Pintu Singh, Kailash Yadav and Sashikant Kulkarni.
