The system, which includes a helpline (9969555000) and an online portal, will attend to complaints at a cost of Rs4,000 a complaint, within 10 days of it being registered.

The Union department of telecommunication decided to launch the project after it came across several cases where telecom service providers were flouting rules. “An internal report indicated that operators in Mumbai and other metros were violating norms considerably,” said Milind Deora, Union minister of state for communications and information technology. “This will be the first step in implementing the radiation norms, which were revised last month.”
