In the gardens and markets committee meeting on Wednesday, it was decided that the BMC would audit these parks and carry out necessary rectifications.

“There have been complaints from parents that children are injured while playing on damaged and broken slides. We want the administration to audit these gardens and fix the broken rides,” said Vilas Chavari, chairman of the committee.

Meanwhile, corporators have been complaining about the deplorable condition of the gardens in the city. They claimed that trees were drying up due to the contractors’ negligence.

The Hindustan Times on December 12 had reported that the seven garden beautification projects planned for the city in this year’s budget have not taken off till now. The Rs 18 crore allocated for the beautification is lying unused and may get lapsed.
