On Friday, Manohar Ahire, a resident of Worli police camp, was on his motorbike (MH-01-AQ-9169) when a four-wheeler hit him from the rear. The incident took place around 7.30pm at Poddar Junction, RG Dhadani Lane in Worli.

Due to the collision, Ahire was tossed ahead and he landed on a taxi in front of his bike.

The driver of the vehicle fled from the spot and passers-by rushed Ahire to the hospital.

“Ahire had sustained serious injuries on his head and abdomen. He was in a critical condition. We have registered a case of causing death due to rash and negligent driving against the unknown vehicle driver and are searching for him,” said Vasant Tajne, senior inspector, Worli police station.

Tajne said several persons had witnessed the mishap, but none of them could note down the registration number or the make of the vehicle.
