The Goregaon police said they may conduct a brain- mapping test on Sahil Malik, who was arrested for allegedly killing his girlfriend and model Rinki Choudhary.
“Malik has not been co-operating with police investigations and has been throwing tantrums,” said Surendra Paithankar, senior police inspector of Goregaon police station.
According to Paithankar, Malik has not confessed to the murder and to bring out the truth they may have to use brain-mapping. Malik had claimed that he had been painting the bedroom walls of Choudhary’s residence when she went into the kitchen and hanged herself from the ceiling fan last Thursday.
“Malik has stuck to his story,” Paithankar said.
Nevertheless, postmortem reports helped police nab Malik, against whom they have registered a case of murder and divulging incorrect information to the police.
Paitankar said, “In a case of hanging, the marks on the neck are usually V-shaped, since the rope or dupatta gets pulled from the top. But in this case, marks were around the neck. This proves that she was strangled before she was hanged.”
“Although it not absolutely clear that Choudhary was murdered and we have just the medical evidence to gon on, we would require Malik’s confession to nail him,” said an officer from Goregaon police station on condition of anonymity.
Meanwhile, Choudhary’s mother has hired an advocate, Nagesh Mishra, to fight the legal battle.
The police are still awaiting the arrival of Malik’s former girlfriend, Shamli Jain alias Princy, from Delhi to record her statement.
