Though the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) refused to accord a sanction to prosecute him, it has recommended departmental proceedings for a major penalty against the additional commissioner.

On February 28, 2009, the anti-corruption wing of the CBI arrested Income Tax Officer, TV Mohan while accepting a bribe of Rs 4.5 lakh from an estate agent. Keshkamat was arrested the next day as Mohan told interrogators that the bribe amount, received through tax consultant Deepak Vachcharajani, was meant for the additional commissioner.
