Banerjee also told Arjun that he had taken all possible steps to safeguard their future. While Arjun asked his father why he was saying so, the DCP pulled out his service revolver and shot himself on the right temple.

Thane police chief KP Raghuvanshi said on Monday that Banerjee was depressed and that led him to commit suicide. The reasons behind him going into dep-ression are yet to be ascertained. The police have so far recorded statements of the DCP’s father Anil and wife Sushmita.
