Gadkar was arrested on June 10, a day after she crashed her car into a taxi while driving on the wrong side of the Eastern Freeway. The taxi driver and one of his passengers died, while four others were injured.

The court had, on June 26, rejected Gadkar’s bail application on the grounds that she could pressurise the prosecution witnesses. On Friday, Gadkar was produced in court through video conference and her judicial custody was extended till July 24.

Her team of lawyers said it is preparing to move her bail application again, once the police investigations into the case are completed. One of the members of the team said the probe is almost over and the bail plea will be moved soon.
