Employing young, well-trained and active security guards can help prevent such incidents, the police said.

Most security firms usually employ retired men, who are not very alert and can't chase a burglar if needed.

"Police vehicles have started making rounds of the areas where the thefts took place. This is being done to prevent and curb such incidents," said Jaywant Hargude, assistant commissioner of police, crime branch.

According to the police, it is necessary for residents to take precautions to ensure the safety of their homes.
