“Chavan should ensure that work in Mantralaya and the state is done in Marathi with immediate effect,” an editorial in Sena mouthpiece Saamna said.

“What is the bravery in speaking in Marathi to Marathi journalists? Chavan should visit the Delhi Press Club and state that only Marathi will be given priority in Mumbai and Maharashtra,” it said.

The editorial went on to say that the CM should also go to Delhi and emphatically state that Mumbai and the Marathi language has degenerated because of the number of migrants coming in to the city.

Chavan should also make Marathi a mandatory subject in English medium schools and cancel recognition of schools failing to abide by the directive, the editorial said.

Action should be taken against builders who refuse flats to Marathi people, it added.
