Raviul Islam Humayun Sheikh, 40, was arrested by the Unit 11 crime branch when he had gone to circulate a part of the consignment at the Raghuleela Mall in Kandivli (w).
The police learnt that the fake consignment was to arrive from Kolkata. The sleuths were tipped off about Sheikh’s attempt to push two Rs 500 denomination notes at the mall on November 28. The notes bore serial numbers—7AP331901 and 7AP455100.
Sheikh was arrested and 300 fakes of Rs 500 denomination seized. A search at his Wadala residence led to the further discovery of 400 such notes.
