Give priority to Marathi in central establishments: MNS

The Raj Thackeray-led Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) has asked central government establishments to adopt Marathi in their day to day functioning.

The Raj Thackeray-led Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) has asked central government establishments to adopt Marathi in their day to day functioning.

They accused establishments like the railways and post office department of deliberately ignoring the language and insulting the locals. “Since they are based in Maharashtra, they have to adopt the local language and give preference to the sons of the soil,” said Bala Nandgaonkar, MNS legislator.

Critics are not amused and call it a gimmick. “MNS leaders send their children to English schools and want others to learn Marathi. This is unfair and just a ploy to mislead the people,” said Parasnath Tiwari, trustee, Uttar Bhartiya Sangh. He said MNS leaders should first shift their children to Marathi medium schools.
