Nephew of A Yemumalai, a cable operator at Wadala, got married in Tamil Nadu on February 20. As Yemumalai had to throw a party on March 11, his relatives had come over at his Sanjay Gandhi Nagar residence at Chunabhatti.

The expensive jewellery brought by the relatives for the occasion was packed in a bag and kept in the cupboard. On Friday, the Yemumalais were out giving invites to their relatives in city. They returned around 11pm.

Said Yemumalai, “When I woke up around 3am to take my medicine, I found the door ajar. I woke up my relatives. On checking the cupboard, we realised that the bag containing jewellery, a cellphone and Rs5000 in cash was also missing from the cupoboard.”

The family informed the Wadala TT police where a case of housebreak-in was lodged. No arrests have been made.
