The civic body will begin the second phase of the 15th national census exercise from February 9 to 28. This stage will include actual population enumeration.

The city’s homeless population will also be calculated in the second phase on February 28.
“Enumerators also calculate homeless population only on February 28 night to avoid duplication. Census of homeless will start all over the city at the same time,” Manisha Mhaiskar, the city’s additional principal census officer said.
Census 2011 kicked off in the city on May 1, 2010. It will be conducted in two phases.
In the first phase, 31,500 enumerators had surveyed more than 43 lakh homes in the city. There were 27,850 house blocks in the city (one house block consists of 150 houses).
The first phase comprises house listing and housing census, along with the creation of the national population registration.
