House help booked for robbing gold ornaments

A case of theft has been registered against a house help, who allegedly stole gold ornaments worth Rs2.45 lakh from the Andheri residence of his employer, on Tuesday.

A case of theft has been registered against a house help, who allegedly stole gold ornaments worth Rs2.45 lakh from the Andheri residence of his employer, on Tuesday.

According to police, the incident occurred at the residence of Gulrez Kayum, 32, a contractor, at Ashiayana Apartments in Mapkhan Nagar, Andheri (East).

Kayum, who does know the full name and address of the wanted accused, told police that he had hired Sonu Yadav recently. Yadav would sleep at Kayum’s residence. Kayum and his wife went to sleep around midnight. When they woke up in the morning, they did not find Yadav in the house. Assuming that he had gone for shopping, they waited for him to return. However, when Yadav did not return even after several hours, they checked the house only to find their valuables were missing.

“We have lodged a case of theft against Yadav,” said Mohan Waghmare, police inspector of MIDC police station.
