After Aniket Ambhore, a student of Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay, (IIT-B), died after falling off the hostel balcony last week, the institute is conducting counselling sessions for his close friends, to help them come to terms with the incident.
“We are conducting sessions with some of his close friends to help them cope with the loss. Our counsellors are also trying to find out the cause behind Ambhore’s death from his friends,” said Rashmi Udaykumar, public relations officer, IIT-B.
While Ambhore’s parents have claimed he was depressed and was on medication, some students say he had become overly spiritual in the last few weeks.
“He was an amazing musician. While he had a couple of backlogs in some subjects, he continued with his passion for music. He recently started reading up on spirituality and wrote songs on the subject,” one of the students said.
Ambhore’s roommate is particularly troubled and is unable to move on, said sources. He has even asked to be shifted to another room.
“The counsellors had a separate session with him, as he is having a hard time. The hostel committee is trying to get him shifted to another room,” said the source.
