Interim relief for Sanjay Gupta

On March 1, the police registered a case against Gupta for sending out invites for the promotion of his film Shootout at Wadala on a letterhead resembling that of the police commissioner’s.

In his bail plea. Gupta stated that the invite, which looked like a police summons from the 1980s was designed only to launch the film in a unique and innovative manner. He said a disclaimer was put on the invite which said, “This is purely for publicity purposes only and does not bear any resemblance to any legal official government document.”

Gupta’s advocate had pleaded that he may be given protection from arrest for the period. Considering this, the court has granted him protection from arrest till Monday.
