On May 17, two assailants rained bullets outside the Pakmodia Street residence of Iqbal Kaskar — the younger brother of fugitive terrorist Dawood Ibrahim. Kaskar’s driver-cum-bodyguard Arif Sayed Abu Bakr died in the firing.

Himanshu Roy, joint commissioner of police (crime) said that Joseph was taken into custody after investigations revealed that he had provided an international SIM card to Umed Ur Rehman, the main accused in the firing case.

Similarly, on September 5, Joseph had been arrested after investigations revealed that he had provided global SIM cards to Rajan’s sharpshooter Satish Kalya and his mafia manager Vinod Ashrani to communicate with Rajan in the run up to J Dey’s murder. With Joseph’s re-arrest, the crime branch has arrested a total of eight persons linked to the Pakmodia case.
