The two had applied for bail after the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) failed to file a chargesheet in the case within the stipulated period of 60 days. Earlier, seven other accused were released on bail on the same grounds.

Both Phatak and Tiwari had been arrested on April 3.

In their separate bail applications, the duo has contended that as the punishment for the offences they are booked under is less then 10 years, the CBI ought to have filed a chargesheet in court within 60 days of their arrest.

Since it had failed to do so, they were entitled for bail.
